ONLINE TRAINING FOR ADULTS

The following training courses are available online at: http://olc.scouting.org/

BOY SCOUTS YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING
This course takes about an hour, and you will receive a printable letter certifying your trained status upon completion. Remember: new guidelines in the "Guide to Safe Scouting" require that at least one leader trained in Youth Protection be present at every outing or event. The Mt. Diablo-Silverado Council encourages all unit leaders to complete Youth Protection Training.

BOY SCOUT FAST START TRAINING
This online "Fast Start Training" is a quick orientation to help new Scout Leaders to get ready for their first Boy Scout meeting. It is an essential course for all Troup 236 adult leaders.

SAFE SWIM DEFENSE AND SAFETY AFLOAT TRAINING
Before a BSA group may engage in swimming activities of any kind, an minimum of one adult leader must complete "Safe Swim Defense" training, have a commitment card (No. 34243) with them, and agree to use the eight defenses in this plan. This course requires version 7 or later of the Macromedia Flash plug-in.

THE GUIDE TO SAFE SCOUTING
The purpose of "Guide to Safe Scouting" is to prepare adult leaders to conduct Scouting activies in a safe and prudent manner. The policies and guildelines have been established because of the real need to protect members from known hazards that have been identified through eighty-plus years of experience. Limitations on certain activities should not be viewed as stumbling blocks; rather, policies and guidelines are best described as stepping-stones toward safe and enjoyable adventures.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER TRAINING
This training is required in order to obtain a Tour Permit starting in 2009. Learn how to properly plan and run a safe outing where hazardous weather conditions may be encountered.
